Specialist Fertility & Women's Health Acupuncture

This isn't a general acupuncture practice. 

I am a specialist fertility and women's health acupuncturist. This is the area in which I have specific, high-level training, and where I continue to direct the majority of my ongoing professional development. My approach combines the ancient art and wisdom of Traditional Chinese Medicine with a solid grounding in the relevant biomedical science, bridging that gap with compassion.

Working with Me

• I deliver individually focused, bespoke treatment to support your fertility and women's health, combined with targeted advice and support built around you.

• For the duration of your session, my full attention and clinic time is dedicated to you alone.

• As a Fertility Support Trained Practitioner, I've been trained to dig deeper and question further, taking time to consider your medical history, your journey so far, and any treatments or tests you've had, looking for any gaps, as well as taking into consideration how to optimise your lifestyle, diet and emotional health.

• I help you navigate what can feel like a complex and overwhelming area, I advocate for you throughout and I help you regain a sense of control by supporting you to advocate for yourself. 

• Where it would help, I recommend additional testing or investigations.

• Where a team is needed, I am able to share your care with other trusted practitioners, nutritionists, herbalists, or others as appropriate.

• Every treatment plan is shaped by your own history, cycle and circumstance. The way I practice ensures that I never offer a fixed, one-size-fits-all approach.

• You are welcomed into a peaceful, judgement-free space, where you can be heard, take the opportunity to off-load your stresses, and heal.

• I run a busy clinic in Shardlow, Derby, supporting women, and their partners where relevant, preparing for pregnancy, undergoing fertility treatment, or navigating women's health conditions.

The Commitment

A three-month preparatory window for fertility acupuncture aligns with the body's natural cycle of egg and sperm development, known as folliculogenesis, which takes approximately 90 days. It is a biological window.

This is why I recommend weekly treatment sessions across a three month period. There is also a cumulative effect to consider. You may well feel relaxed after a single session, but the deeper physiological work, such as improving blood flow, supporting hormonal balance, and nourishing the environment where your eggs develop and where an embryo will eventually implant, requires that regular, weekly rhythm to build over the full window, not just isolated sessions here and there.

It's like preparing the soil before planting a seed: giving your body time to build the strongest possible foundation, whether conception happens naturally or via assisted reproductive technology.

My focus throughout is results. This is exactly why I set treatment out this way, recommending diet and lifestyle changes, further testing, or referrals wherever they'll make a genuine difference, rather than offering a standard course of sessions regardless of what your case actually needs.

Part of the way I achieve my results is through asking you to make appropriate, manageable changes to the quality of your life, guiding you through optimising your sleep, food and exercise, and using the testing I may ask you to do to help refine my treatment, and thereby improve your outcomes.

The Investment

Fertility acupuncture with me involves a three month commitment, and this is reflected in the investment involved. I don't offer occasional or last-minute sessions timed only around egg collection or embryo transfer, the value of this work comes from the sustained treatment described above, not from isolated appointments.

Support at Every Stage

Acupuncture can benefit you at any stage of your fertility journey, whether you're just starting to prepare for pregnancy, have been trying to conceive for some time, need support during pregnancy, or are planning to undergo assisted reproductive treatment such as IUI, IVF or ICSI.

Acupuncture can help reduce stress by stimulating the parasympathetic nervous system, and support modulation of the immune system, both of which play a role in reproductive health. It's also thought to increase blood flow to the uterus and help regulate hormones, which may help reduce the risk of miscarriage.

It also works well alongside conventional fertility treatment. It's a very safe therapy, free from the side effects that can accompany some medications, which makes it a natural complement to treatments such as IVF.
